
	While Bongani remains one of the mainstays of Joburg’s biggest breakfast show, the Rude Awakening, it’s probably his voice that has really catapulted him into the spotlight. He has performed along side well-known musicians like Hugh Masekela and Kirk Franklin, starred in Disney’s The Lion King, and is often asked to sing at weddings, christenings and private functions. His long-awaited self-titled album was launched this week and features an eclectic mix of musical styles that showcase his vocal versatility.

Bongani Nxumalo

A talented singer and songwriter, Bongani Nxumalo released his own self-titled album in 2009 and has performed on many stages in South Africa since.

Known for his enthusiastic personality on 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s popular Breakfast Xpress show, it’s probably his voice that has really catapulted him into the spotlight. He has performed alongside well-known musicians like Hugh Masekela and Kirk Franklin, starred in Disney’s The Lion King, and is often requested to sing at weddings, christenings and private functions.

No stranger to television presenting either, Bongani has hosted cooking show, The Perfect Sishebo on SABC2, co-hosted Soundcheck Live on M-Net and made cameo appearances on the soapie, Egoli.

Passionate about social issues and gender equality, Bongani is a skilled motivational speaker.

Teaching families to use organic products is also a cause that is close to his heart. He has been very involved in implementing ‘greening’ concepts to learners and teachers across Gauteng.
